Do utilitarians make more money? Are all theists dualists? What is the relationship between philosophical views on abortion, animal rights, capital punishment, and war? Are all Republicans libertarians and free-market capitalists? Did all vegetarians vote for Obama in the last election? The answer to these and many other questions are what we are hoping to find out by adding this Philosophical Profile Survey and other surveys to philosophynews.com, and doing follow up articles on our analysis of the data.

The survey consists of 51 questions and will cover demographics, philosophical expertise, opinions on the subject of philosophy, and questions relating to metaphysics, history, epistemology, science, language, mind, and ethics. It will take about 30 minutes to complete. You will be able to view the aggregated results of all philosophynews.com survey users after completing the poll.

Please give us your honest and best answers to each question. Select the answer you most agree with (even if it isn’t perfectly representative of your view and our rough definition isn’t quite correct). Only use “Other” and “I don’t know” as a last resort. The more accurate these surveys are and the more people that take it, the more interesting and insightful the results will be.

Important: Press the “Vote” button at the bottom of each page to submit your answers. Then click the “Click to Continue Survey” link to continue the survey (8 pages total).

If you’d like to leave us feedback or if you want to provide more depth to some of your answers, you can do so in the comments section on the final page of the survey. We’d love to hear from you!

Thank you!
