Christmas is a time of joy and festivity, yet it is also a season ripe with contradictions. For some, it’s a celebration of tradition and togetherness, while for others, it’s a holiday that reflects societal pressures, rampant consumerism, or unexamined conformity. We look to 6 philosophers, Arendt, Nietzsche, Marx, Weil, Russell and Epicurus to see whether we can find a path between overindulgence and the risk of being a scrooge during the Christmas break.
