Experimental Philosophy and the Origins of Empiricism is the result of a long scholarly investigation of topics related to early modern forms of experimentation and the emergence of what is called “the experimental philosophy.” It builds on a research project carried out at the University of Otago by Peter Anstey and his team (see the brief note about the project. For more details, including contributions from critical voices, see the entire series of blog posts. Part of the content of this book draws on previous publications of the two authors, as attested in the acknowledgments (ix), but the general image emerging from the current work is more nuanced than the one projected by prior papers.
