Johannes Clauberg (1622 – 65) was a Reformed (Calvinist) professor at the University of Duisburg. He was among Descartes’ earliest advocates in Germany, whose apologetics, commentaries, and treatises did much to introduce Protestant German audiences to Cartesian philosophy. Clauberg won the admiration of the young Leibniz, who judged him to be clearer than Descartes himself.
